Every time I thought I had something figured out there would be another twist. Unlike some stories where the twists and turns make the story convoluted and hard to follow/believe, these tied every thing together. This is a book I will most certainly read again to see what I missed on my first read. I can't wait to see what story comes next and am excited by the thought of a sequel. I hope Dr. Thomas writes a sequel to this. Her writing is excellent and very descriptive, making the scenes really come to life in your mind. - 2.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- Disappointed : I don’t usually write reviews, but felt I should give a different perspective from the many five star reviews that had convinced me to purchase this book. Yes, the story does have many twists and turns, enough that encouraged me to keep reading, but all the events that occurred and history revealed was ridiculously implausible. There were still unanswered questions in the end, and I was left disappointed particularly regarding the main character and her relationship with her friend Phoebe. Obviously many people enjoyed this book, so I may be in the minority, but just wanted to offer a counter viewpoint. ( Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2021 )

The story was disjointed, the characters under-developed... nothing made sense and there was no reason to care. The characters are interesting, and the plot is suspenseful. I was totally not expecting the end. I really enjoyed getting into the mind and the inner dialogue of each character. Dr. Thomas has a great imagination; she created characters I loved to love and ones I loved to hate, and a few I thought I loved and then hated - LOL. People are CRAZY!
